Today’s topic:Our memories

We have many memories of our past. Some of these memories are very vivid.

Today’s question:
How accurate is our vivid memories?
They are not as accurate as we would think they are. When the American space shuttle Challenger exploded on takeoff in 1986, researchers had students write down what happened. They were supposed to write down what they were wearing and what was on TV. Three years later the students were told to write down what they remembered. The researchers compared what they wrote.

This is what they found:
Ninety percent (90%) of the reports differed. Half of them were wrong in 2/3 of the details.

Today’s advice
Don’t think too much about the past, stay grounded in the present.
